Toadies, Reverend Horton Heat, Nashville Pussy in Boston, MA for SOLD OUT show!

On a chilly Wednesday evening in Boston, MA fans hurried into the Paradise Rock Club. Three very different bands were up to play tonight: a rock ‘n’ roll band with some country flair, a psychobilly trio and a 90’s alternative rock band. Somehow this lineup worked spectacularly, and fans sold out this mid-week show.

No one must have told the band Nashville Pussy they were the opener because they rocked the jammed packed venue like they were the headliner. Lead guitarist Ruyter Suys, who had previously been named one of Elle magazine’s Greatest Female Electric Guitarists, came out in full force. She was out there nailing high kicks and shredding the guitar. The band now has out eight studio albums; their latest is Pleased to Eat You. The band was called “America’s last great rock ‘n’ roll band” by Lemmy of Motorhead and they are living up to that title.

Next up was the psychobilly trio of The Reverend Horton Heat. For those not familiar with the psychobilly genre, it is a mix of rockabilly and punk rock and the bands are traditionally a trio. The Reverend Horton Heat has been pumping out hits since they hit the Billboard charts in 1996 and have found commercial success gracing the iconic Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 soundtrack and being included in multiple Guitar Hero games for their hit “Psychobilly Freakout”. Their accolades go on and on with other video games and commercials. It’s no wonder fans were familiar with the majority of the 16-song set.

The headliner Toadies were finally taking the stage and fans were so excited to not just see the performance, but to celebrate the 25th year anniversary of the Rubberneck album that put the Toadies on the map. The band started with some newer tracks and then played the Rubberneck album in its entirety. Hits like “Tyler” had fans dancing and reminiscing about the 90’s. Towards the middle of their set they played their monster hit “Possum Kingdom” that had absolutely everyone in the venue either jumping or singing the tune.

After the set was complete fans didn’t budge and wanted more. They were treated to 4 encore songs and loved every second of it. With their new EP Damn You All to Hell released just last month in September 2022 and with the success this tour has seen fans are hoping we will be hearing a lot more from Toadies.
