Thy Art is Murder headlined a show at the downstairs of Worcester Palladium with support from Angelmaker, playing to a crowd full of fans.
The opening act Angelmaker came out and instantly made a presence on the spot. It’s not often you see a band with two vocalists and three guitar players, so with the large band filling the stage it made an impact. Along with the extra members from the usual lineup, they had great stage presence that demanded the crowd’s attention. Even with the two vocalists, there was not much banter in between songs but the crowd didn’t seem to mind. The crowd reacted to the band throughout their entire set, singing along, dancing, jumping, moshing, and plenty of crowd surfing. The crowd was participating without being literally told to which is a true testament of how much Massachusetts already enjoys the band.
Next it was time for the headliner, Thy Art is Murder. Thy Art is Murder is a more traditional five piece band so they didn’t have the instant impact that Angelmaker had but they brought their own unique stage presence to the Palladium. Thy Art is Murder has been a staple band in the metal scene for nearly two decades now. They now have a new frontman, vocalist Tyler Miller, since last year but the music and life of the band has still had a big impact on the metal scene of music and it’s fans. Tyler did his best to get the crowd to join in with their performance, getting the crowd moving and moshing and having the crowd turn on their phone flashlights for one of the band’s slower songs. With being a new frontman to a band that has had such a long lifetime, he did a great job. The band’s performance sounded spot on to what you would expect and they played a bit of everything for fans of all albums.
