The Silver Scream Con 3 At The DCU Center In Worcester, MA

For three unforgettable days, Ice Nine Kills unleashed a festival that blended horror, theatrics, and electrifying music in the historic Silver Scream Con 3.  The festival drew fans from all over the country, creating a unique atmosphere where horror fans and metalheads came together to celebrate the band’s genre-defining sound and theatrical flair.Day 1:

The festival kicked off with a palpable sense of anticipation. Attendees filed through the gates into an arena where they were met with everything horror. Fans were able to walk around to the different vendors to get a chance to meet different people and talk about horror and metal. Fans were able to walk around and meet different celebrities at each of their personal booths. Fans, characters and actors were dressed in horror themed costumes.

There were set times for different discussion panels that the fans could sit and listen to actors/directors, and celebrities discuss movies and the art of horror. These were created and hosted by Ryan J Downey.

The first discussion panel : Premium Psychos Mixer where the fans got to get a glimpse of what was to become of the weekend and to break the ice for the first part of the madness. This is where the excitement began.

Next discussion panel was Inked In Blood:  Fans got to ask questions about the Art of Ice Nine Kills, including the new Ice Nine Kills graphic novel, inked in Blood 2. Once upon a crime , written by Silver Scream Cons own Ryan J Downey from a story by him and Spencer. Downey was joined by longtime INK collaborator (and Nightmare on the Ninth mastermind) Mike Cortada and Josh Bernstein.

During the night, characters from Creatures Of The Night Studios were walking around in big heads dressed as different characters. Some of which included: The Grinch, Captain Spaulding, Pinhead, scary leprechaun, Ice Nine Kills mascot The Silence, and more. They had fans walking up to them and taking pictures of them. This was a fan favorite.

Talking Chop with Bill Moseley: This was a conversation with Bill Moseley who is beloved by fans as Chop Top in the movie Texas Chain Massacre 2, Ricky in Silent Night, Deadly Night 3, Otis B Driftwood in Rob Zombie’s firefly trilogy, and Captain Harris in Welcome To Horrorwood. He discussed his role in the movies and answered questions from the fans.

Thank God It’s Friday The 13th: This was a conversation/discussion with the original Friday the 13th director Sean S.Cunningham, Warrington Gillette, (Jason in part 2) and Derek Mears (Jason in the 2009 remake) This was a chance for the fans to get to know behind the scenes talk and get the actors and directors part on how the movies were created and how they came to be what they are today. The fans got to ask questions as well.

Horror Trivia with Jose Mangin: This was a new panel that was created for this years festivities. It was where fans set themselves into groups of 7 and were asked questions all things horror. Fans got to test their mettle designed to peel the horror facts from deep inside each attendees craniums. They had to write answers on paper and the papers were checked after each round by the judges. There were 6 rounds with 10 questions in each round. The questions varied from movies, soundtracks, and actors. At the end of all rounds Jose announced the winners and they came up to receive their one of a kind trophy.

Fans were able to mingle with celebrities and get photos taken with their favorite actors at certain times. Each actor taking a few minutes to take photos with fans and talk to them and answer a few questions.

This was an amazing first day to the start of the weekend. After the festivities R.I.P fans got a chance to attend a special party at Off The Rails across the street. The fans got to hear an acoustic set of The Funeral Portrait.

Day 2: 

The day started off again with fans piling into the venue all dressed in their cosplay costumes and getting ready for the day to start.

The actors that were around today included: David Arquette, Eli Roth, Spencer Charnas, Jamie Kennedy, David Howard Thornton, Damien Leone, Lauren Lavera, Amelie Mclain, Elliott Fullam, Nick Castle, Pj Soles, John Michael Graham, Devon Sewa, Elden Hanson, Quinn Lord, Lee Waddell, Sean S Cunningham, Ari Lehman, Warrington Gillette, Derek Mears, James Jude Courtney, Danielle Harris, Scout Taylor Compton, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, Shawnee Smith, Bonnie Aarons, Cerina Vincent, Jordan Ladd, Bill Moseley, Ricky Dean Logan, Nadia Teichmann, Jose Mangin, Ryan J Downey, The funeral Portrait, John Campopiano, Gary Sohmers.

It was another day of scavenger hunt to try and find out which mask heads were going to be walking around today from Creatures of The Night Studios. Some of them were the same as Day 1 but they had others walking around today as well.

The panels started with Talk Scary to Me:  This was a conversation with the hosts of The Talk Scary to Me podcast, both of whom starred in Rob Zombie’s Halloween Films: Danielle Harris (Halloween 4&5 , Urban Legend) and the Ice Nine Kills-universe’s own Scout Taylor Compton  (The Runaway’s, Ghost House, Wicked Little Things.) This was time where the fans got to ask questions and discuss the podcast and learn how they got into their specific roles and more..

Your Numbers up: This discussion featured the cast of Scream: It featured David Arquette (Dewey Riley) Jamie Kennedy (Randy Meeks,) and stuntman/actor Lee Waddell (Ghostface) escape Woodsboro to join us for a chillin chat about all things scream. Each actor portrayed their take on the film and how they got started. They answered questions from the fans about scream.

25 Years of Idle Hands: This was a celebration of the 1999 classic Idle Hands, “The Comedy that gives horror films the backhand” with cast members Devon Sawa (SLC punk! Final Destination, Chucky) and Elden Henson (The Mighty Ducks, Marvel’s Daredevil, The Hunger Games.) This was a time when the fans got to hear all about one of their favorite movies.

Stabbing In The Dark: This featured The cast of Halloween. This was a conversation with Nick Castle, Pj Soles, and John Michael Graham from one of the greatest films of all time, John Carpenter’s original 1978 masterpiece Halloween. The og’s were joined by James Jude Courtney, who took over the Shape in the recent Halloween trilogy. This was a chance of a lifetime for the fans. They got to see the cast of their favorite movie and listen to them discuss all things about the movie.  This was a chance for fans to get to know the characters and how they portrayed their parts in the movies.

The fans that were dressed in their cosplay costumes now had their chance to shine in the Cosplay Costume contest. They got to do a skit to portray the character they were dressed as. This was in front of the audience and the judges to get them to know who they were portrayed as.  Fans of all ages were invited to participate. The kids had their chance first then the adults took the stage.

The night ended with the winners of the cosplay costume contest being announced and then the fans headed over to see Ice Nine Kills, In This Moment, Avatar, TX2 and First Jason play a concert outdoors at the Worcester Palladium Outdoors.

 

Day 3:

As the final day of the festival arrived, fans were buzzing with excitement and a bittersweet sense of impending closure.

The day started with the discussion panels:

The Jig is Up started the day off: This was a conversation with Shawnee Smith, who played Jigsaw victim -turned apprentice Amanda Young in the original Saw and returned for Saw II, Saw III, Saw VI, and last years Saw X. This was a chance for fans to get to know her and get the behind the scenes from her on all things Saw.

The Characters of the Creatures of The Night Studios were walking around again dressed in all their costumes. Today they were dressed in Silencer, Captain Spaulding and his wife. The fans were seen taking photos with the characters.

Clowning Around: This was a discussion from the Terrifier Creator Damien Leon, Lauren LaVera (Terrifier 2 &3) Elliot Fullam (Terrifier 2 &3) Amelie McLain (Terrifier 2) and Art the clown himself, David Howard Thornton. This was a discussion about all things Terrifier, including October’s highly anticipated Terrifier 3. This was a time when the cast of Terrifier got to give you the inside scoop about the movie Trilogy and what to possibly expect in the next phase of Terrifier.

Welcome To Horrowood: This was a conversation with some of the stars of the Ice Nine Kills “Welcome to Horrowood Saga: Scout Taylor Compton, (Rob Zombie’s Halloween I & II) Bill Moseley (Rob Zombie’s Firefly Trilogy) Ricky Dean Logan  (Freddy’s Dead) and Nadia Teichmann (The Silver Scream)

 Wurst Vacation:  It is a hostile takeover with Massachusetts born director, writer, producer, Eli Roth, the splatter -loving horror icon behind Cabin Fever, Thanksgiving, and the Hostel series. This was a chance for the fans to find out about Eli and his role in directing Cabin fever. The fans asked him questions about him and how he came up with his ideas. The fans were really intrigued to listen to him talk.

The last of the panels ended with none other then Third Time’s The Harm, featuring Ice Nine Kills. This panel featured discussions with the band members and all things Ice Nine Kills. The panel was packed with fans eager to hear what the members of the band had to say, a lot of the fans just wanted to get a glimpse of the members and ask them questions about their lives and the band. During this discussion Spencer announced to the crowd that they will doing the music video and the music for the new movie Thriller III.  The fans went crazy and cheered. This was exciting news for the band, fans of the movie Thriller and fans of Ice Nine Kills in general. This was an amazing end to an amazing series of panels for the day.

For those lucky enough to attend, it was a weekend they’ll never forget—equal parts thrilling, terrifying, and unforgettable. Ice Nine Kills proved once again that they are not just a band but a force of theatrical innovation in the metal scene.
