Robert Fraser from Deranged Media sat down for a one on one interview with Mike Odd, Manager of Mac Sabbath.
Deranged Media asks: What is Odd’s role in the band?
“Managing a “time traveling” psychotic clown and the rest of the guys is not an easy task. So when your managing and someone is insisting on teleporting through time and space to save us all from the current state of music and food and bring us back to the 70’s where we think more organic. It sounds like its fun but its what I have to deal with because he refuses to be involved in modern technology or modern music business and is kind of anti corporate in many ways.
Deranged Media asks: What is the message your trying to send with the band? What is the band about? The type of music it is etc.
“Ronald is a complicated individual. Its all anonymous and no one knows who they are. He insists its because it would mess up the time space continuum if you get too close to them or use modern technology to film them or it will cause a tear and it will go haywire and we will have fully automated robot run food chains etc.. ”
They took Black Sabbath music and turned it into this thing with mutated fast food mascots to teach you lessons and try to educate you that the government is poisoning its citizens on purpose and to make you aware of it. It is over the top stage show. We meet fans that say “this is not anything I thought it was going to be.” It is not really simple. You have to see it live. There is a lot of theatrics. It not like any rock band. There is a middle beginning and an end. It is a story. You have to have a sense of humor.
He talks about a comment that he got from metal heads stating that they are being disrespectful. The band then went to play with Ozzy and then all of a sudden the comments went away and no one said anymore about it. No one claims disrespect anymore. Black Sabbath is his favorite band.
Deranged mentioned when the band met with Ozzy and his family on the Tv Show “Ozzy and Jack’s Wild Detour.”
He asks how it was meeting them and talking with them.”
“It was amazing, it was three generations of Ozzy’s. It was great watching Ozzy and Ronald interacting. It was life changing for me and others. He was so clear and so amused and confused blown away that this has gone so far. He was blown away and kind of humbled. He didn’t know anything about the band coming in. Jack had set up the whole thing so Ozzy was completely humbled. It was about 6-7 years ago when the episode aired.
The band blew up on twitter when someone had placed a little piece of the video and there was 6 million views. Everyone was like there is this Black Sabbath fast food band that they were just finding out about them. Not knowing they have been around a long while before this.
He mentions that this is the 10 year anniversary of the band. It is getting a magical push. It started out as a weird performance that was happening in basements of fast food places.
The band is on tour. It is a 10 year anniversary tour. It will go into next year. They are on the west coast right now. Who knows how long the tour will be. Tours last years. So we shall see how long it lasts.
He talks about how Ronald makes up these delusions about other bands that exist like Cinnabon Jovi, Chic Fal ACDC, etc. and says all these bands open up for them and that he had to call security cause they called me a Whopper. Things he says like 9 years ago are coming true now. It is a pure entertaining show. If you listen to the lyrics it is about more of what is going on with the government. He says things that are illegal here but not other places.
He talks about the other members of the bands. He says they are all super wacky and fun. When you have to show up early and stay late it is quite exhausting. It is a long day to set up and take everything down. Then drive to the next show.
Any news from Mac Sabbath? This next west coast tour coming up with the “Super Suckers.” They always said that they are the greatest band in the world. So how cool is it to be touring with the greatest band in the world.
