As the fans piled into the Xfinity Center, the fans and staff had their eyes on the weather as there was a severe thunderstorm warning in the area. They were all hoping that it would not interfere with the evenings performances from Volbeat and friends.
The first band of the evening was American metalcore band from El Segundo, California, The Ghost Inside, formed in 2004. The band currently consists of vocalist Jonathan Vigil, guitarists Zach Johnson and Chris Davis, bassist Jim Riley and drummer Andrew Tkaczyk.
On February 5, 2024, the band released a new single, “Wash It Away”, and announced their upcoming sixth album Searching for Solace set for release on April 19, 2024.
As soon as the first beat of “Going Under,” started ,the fans were on their feet. They delivered a powerful, emotion-charged performance, opening the night and setting the bar high for what would become an unforgettable concert.
They commanded the stage with a high-intensity, seven-song set. Each song was delivered with intense passion, tight musicianship, and emotional drive.
Despite being the opening act to heavier-hitting bands like Volbeat and Halestorm, The Ghost Inside didn’t hold back. Their stage presence was tightly focused—no elaborate theatrics were needed. Instead, they channeled raw energy and emotional authenticity, connecting deeply with fans through both sound and sincerity.
They delivered a condensed but thrilling performance that set the tone for the evening. Their set was tight, musically solid, and emotionally resonant—proving once again why they’re a must-see live act.
Whether you’re a fan of hardcore music or just appreciate potent live shows, catching The Ghost Inside on stage is a powerful experience worth every second.
As soon as The Ghost Inside got offstage and the stage crew was getting ready to set up for the next band, Halestorm, the skies decided they would have other options. The screens around the venue changed to indicate that there was a severe thunderstorm warning with lightning that was moving through the area momentarily. The venue decided that the storm/lightning was too close to the venue so they issued a “Shelter In Place.” Fans were encouraged to seek shelter and move into the covered pavilion. The voice over the loudspeaker stated that there was a “Shelter In Place” issued and that they were going to pause the show until the storm moved through. The fans were now trying to make their way under the covered pavilion to find a place to stay until the “Shelter In Place” has been lifted. Fans were now mingling trying to figure out what to do to pass the time as they waited patiently for the storm to pass. Meanwhile they were watching the radar on their phones to see when the storm would pass.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity the storm had passed and the “Shelter In Place” had been lifted and the show was set to go on. (their was an hour and half delay)
The next band to hit the stage was American rock band from Red Lion, Pennsylvania, Halestorm, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale, drummer Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger, and bassist Josh Smith. Siblings Lzzy and Arejay founded the band in 1997. The group’s self-titled debut album was released in 2009 through Atlantic Records.
Despite the thunderstorm delay that shortened their performance, Halestorm charged through with unwavering intensity. Onstage, Lzzy Hale’s vocals were “pure fire,” and the band’s energy “off the charts.”
Halestorm brought a potent mix of new material and fan favorites, including their opening song “Watch Out!” The fans were on their feet cheering.
They pushed through their set with dignity and showed the crowd what a true inspiration they have become throughout their career.
They continued their set with “Fallen Star,” “Rain Your Blood On Me,” and then their was a shortened drum solo that offered a brief dynamic shift that kept the audience on their toes before diving into anthems like “Here’s to Us.”
Halestorm’s set was a short but an unforgettable burst of high-voltage rock. They navigated weather challenges with professionalism and delivered a set that showcased their range—from raw power to emotional depth. If you’re a fan of powerful vocals and commanding performances, Halestorm in their element was nothing short of electrifying.
The final band of the evening was Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in 2001 Volbeat. They play a fusion of rock-a-billy and heavy metal. Their current line-up consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Michael Poulsen, drummer Jon Larsen, and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen, and guitarist Flemming C. Lund. He replaced Rob Cagginano in 2023.
Despite the looming threat of stormy weather, the atmosphere was electric and unified — the crowd soaked in every riff and chorus, undeterred by nature’s theatrics.
Volbeat stormed the stage delivering a near hour-and-a-half of relentless energy as part of their Greatest of All Worldwide Tour. Their set was packed with fan favorites, deep cuts, and a spectacular blend of rock-a-billy and metal. Volbeat delivered a theatrical and electrifying performance that felt like a masterclass in crowd command.
Songs like “Lola Montez,” “Sad Man’s Tongue,” and “Shotgun Blues,” kept the fans on their feet and mosh pits forming. Their newer hits like “By A Monster’s Hand,” and “Time Will Heal,” had the fans chanting along to every word.
Other hits like “Black Rose,” “Seal The Deal,” and “For Evigt,” had the fans fired up and big mosh pits formed. During “Still Counting,” lead vocalist Michael Poulsen invited the kids that were in the audience on stage to help him sing the final song of the evening. The security let the kids go up on stage while the band played in front of them. The looks and the reactions to the kids faces were a sight to see for anyone that witnessed this event.
The kids exited the stage and the band went on to bow and say thank you to all the fans that came and braved the storm with them.
They turned a weather delay into an adrenaline-charged, almost mythic concert experience that left every fan exhilarated.
For those who witnessed it, the show was more than a concert — it was a testament to Volbeat’s power, both onstage and off, solidifying them as one of rock’s most dynamic live acts today.
