Zac Brown Band sells out Fenway Park in Boston, MA for the 15th straight time and gives away a cruise to everyone in attendance.
The first band of the evening was Old Crow Medicine Show. They are an American string band based in Nashville that has been recording since 1998. They were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on September 17, 2013. Their ninth album, Remedy, released in 2014, won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album.The group’s music has been called old-time, folk, and alternative country. Along with original songs, the band performs many pre-World War II blues and folk songs.

The group’s new album Union Made, available June 5, 2026 on Hartland Records (via Firebird Music), features a number of guests, including: John Carter Cash, Evan Felker, Del & Ronnie McCoury, Maggie Rose, Molly Tuttle, and Jesse Welles.
Old Crow Medicine Show brought its distinctive blend of old-time country, bluegrass, folk, and Americana to Fenway Park in Boston, turning one of the city’s most recognizable venues into an unexpectedly fitting setting for the band’s roots-driven sound.
The group’s greatest strength remains its energy. Old Crow Medicine Show has never been a band that simply stands onstage and plays through a set, and that sense of movement and spontaneity was evident throughout the performance. The musicians approached the material with enthusiasm, giving the songs a lively, communal quality that encouraged the audience to sing, clap, and stay engaged.
The Fenway setting added another dimension to the evening. A baseball stadium is an unusual venue for an intimate-feeling roots act, but the crowd helped bridge that gap. Fans responded enthusiastically to the music, creating the kind of atmosphere that made the concert feel less like a conventional stadium show and more like a large outdoor gathering.
Musically, the appeal of Old Crow Medicine Show lies in its ability to make traditional American sounds feel immediate rather than historical. The final act of the evening was one that fans were waiting for all night the Zac Brown Band. They are an American country music band based in Atlanta, Georgia. The lineup consists of Zac Brown (lead vocals, guitar), Jimmy De Martini (fiddle, vocals), John Driskell Hopkins (bass guitar, guitar, baritone guitar, banjo, ukulele, upright bass, vocals , Coy Bowles (guitar, keyboards), Chris Fryar (drums), Clay Cook (guitar, keyboards, mandolin, steel guitar, vocals), Matt Mangano (bass guitar), Daniel de los Reyes (percussion), and Caroline Jones (guitar, keyboards, harmonica, vocals).
The band has released seven studio albums, three live albums, one greatest hits album, and three extended plays. They have had 16 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs or Country Airplay chart, of which 13 have reached number 1. Their first album, The Foundation, is certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, while its follow-ups, You Get What You Give and Uncaged, are certified platinum. They have collaborated with artists such as Alan Jackson, Angie Aparo, Jimmy Buffett, Kid Rock, Jason Mraz, Dave Grohl, Chris Cornell, Brandi Carlile, Avicii, Los Lonely Boys, Sara Barellies and John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
There are few concert settings more unmistakably Boston than Fenway Park, and the Zac Brown Band made the most of the historic surroundings with a performance that combined country roots, Southern rock, bluegrass, folk, and plenty of stadium-sized energy.
The appeal of the Zac Brown Band has always been its refusal to stay neatly inside the country genre. At Fenway, that versatility was front and center. The band moved confidently between driving, guitar-heavy numbers and more relaxed acoustic passages, with the musicianship remaining a constant throughout. The arrangements gave the instrumentalists room to shine without turning the concert into a showcase of technical ability for its own sake.
Zac Brown remains an engaging frontman, balancing the role of singer, guitarist, and bandleader with an easygoing stage presence. Rather than relying solely on production or spectacle, he consistently brought the focus back to the music. That approach suited the band’s material, which often depends as much on musicianship and storytelling as it does on hooks.
The audience was equally important to the experience. Fenway was filled with fans who knew the music well, and the strongest moments came when the crowd took over the vocals. They played a 4 set interlude. The first set included a collaboration of his popular songs along with some of the newer ones. Including in the set was “As She’s Walking Away,” “Toes,” and “I Ain’t Worried About It.”
The next set included a few of the bands songs played total acoustic. These included: “What You Gonna Do,” and “A Pirate Looks at Forty,” (Jimmy Buffett cover) The next song included a surprise appearance by Boston’s own Gary Cherone of the Extremes, “More Then Words.”
Before the next set the band took a 10 minute break. As they were on the break the sky turned dark and it started to drizzle. The opening song for the next act was coincidently, “Let It Rain.” They played a few more songs such as “Homegrown,” “Loving You Easy,” and “Knee Deep.”
The next song, “Same Boat,” they played a video which featured Jimmy Buffet. As soon as the song was over Zac came to the mic and said that everyone in attendance of his sold out show at Fenway was going to be receiving a free cruise courtesy of Margaritaville Cruise Lines. They posted a code to text to their phone. Everyone in the crowd was amazed. They then went into a few medleys and finished off with “Chicken Fried.”
The last part of the show was mostly all the bands favorite cover songs from bands they knew and loved. These featured songs: “Let’s Get It On,” (Marvin Gaye cover) “Tití Me Preguntó, “(Bad Bunny cover) “Pink Houses” (John Mellencamp cover) and ended the night with “Free Bird” (Lynyrd Skynyrd cover).
Ultimately, the concert worked because it offered something for both devoted fans and casual listeners: recognizable songs, accomplished musicianship, energetic performances, and the unmistakable atmosphere of Fenway Park. It may not have been a perfectly streamlined show, but its ambition and musical range made it an engaging night of live music.
For the Zac Brown Band, Fenway was more than a backdrop. It became part of the experience—a massive, historic venue filled with an audience ready to celebrate a band whose music has always been bigger than a single genre.
