On a Saturday afternoon in Worcester fans lined the streets early to get ready for what was to become long night of rock music at The Big Gig.
As the fans started piling in, former WAAF and current 100 FM The Pike DJ’s Mistress Carrie and Mike Hsu were the hosts of the evening. They came to the Mic and introduced themselves and spoke to the crowd to get the night started. They introduced the first band of the evening.
The first band to start the show was American Rock band from Los Angeles, CA Dorothy. They are currently touring off their new album that was released in 2022 Gifts From The Holy Ghost. They released their new EP Thrive In The Darkness.
They started the night off with “Down To The Bottom.” This got the crowd moving and jumping and ready to party for what was to become an unbelievable evening. Even though their set was short they played songs which included, “Hurricane,” “Black Sheep,” “Rest In Peace.” They ended their set with “Gifts From The Holy Ghost.” They put on an amazing performance that the fans enjoyed.
Before the next band Mistress Carrie and Mike Hsu came to the mic yet again to talk to the crowd and introduce the next band of the evening.
The next band to hit the stage was American Hard Core Punk band from Columbus, OH Beartooth. They are formed by Caleb Shomo. They have released new songs since 2021 which include “Devastation,” “The Past Is Dead,” and “Fed Up,” They released their new album Below in 2021. In 2022 they released “Riptide.” In 2023 they released another single “Sunshine.”
They started their set off with “Devastation.” The crowd was getting reckless as they started their set. The fans were starting to crowd surf and one of the fans even fell on top of the security guard as he was trying to grab him from the guard rail.
The lead singer Caleb Shomo was seen throughout the set running around the stage. They brought tons of energy and the fans were feeding off this and were creating pits and crowd surfing.
Through their set they played songs which included their newest single “Sunshine,” “Hated,” and “Riptide.” The energy in the building was now intensifying and could be felt from the back of the venue. They ended their set with “The Past Is Dead.” They put on an amazing performance and the crowd wanted more.
Again the hosts Mistress Carrie and Mike Hsu came to the mic to address the crowd and introduce the next band of the night.
The next band of the night was American Rock Band from New York City, Pretty Reckless. In 2022 the band released Other Worlds, a compilation album containing alternate versions of previously released songs and new covers. A remix of “Got So High” was released as a single as well.
They kicked off their set with “Death By Rock and Roll.” The lead singer Taylor Momsen was dressed in all black lingerie as she came on stage. The fans were singing along as she sang songs which included, “Make Me Wanna Die,” “Going To Hell.” During this song the fans were singing parts of the song as Taylor put the mic to the crowd to let them sing their parts.
The fans were loving their set and were cheering.
They ended their set with “Take Me Down.” They put on an amazing performance as usual.
Again Mistress Carrie and Mike Hsu came to the stage but this time the mics were not working. They yelled to the crowd to see if they could hear them. They yelled Can you Hear Me? to the crowd. The crowd responded with Yes. They continued to introduce the next band and then ran off the stage.
The next band to hit the stage was American Rock band from Las Vegas, NV Falling In Reverse. The band was originally formed while lead vocalist Ronnie Radke was incarcerated. They had a different name but it was quickly changed to Falling In Reverse a short time later.
They opened their set with “Zombified,” which is the first single off their new album Neon Zombie. The fans were feeding off the bands energy. They brought tons of energy to the stage and the fans were creating pits and crowd surfing once again. During their set Radke did a few mic throws in the air only to drop the mic twice. After the last one he told the venue put the house lights up next time I throw the mic so I can see.
They continued to play songs which included, “Losing My Mind,” F##k You And All Your Friends,” and “Drugs.”
Before the song “Just Like You,” Radke came to the mic and addressed the crowd and said “Raise your hand if you or someone you know is an A@@ Hole. Raise your hand if you talked crap about me on Twitter at least one time. Thank you for your money you Fu%king idiots. I am an A**Hole too.”
They ended their set with “Watch The World Burn,” “Voices In My Head,” and “Popular Monster.” They were amazing to see live. They had tons of energy and the crowd loved every minute.
Carrie and Hsu came to the mic one final time to introduce the final band of the evening.
The final band to perform was American Rock band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania Breaking Benjamin. On the stage, on either side of the drums, were two sections of VIP Fans embracing the band on stage. Also seen on stage during their performance was Benjamin Jr who followed his dad around on stage. He appeared to be playing guitar by his side. It was really cool to witness a site that had father and son on stage together.
The lights on stage were dim around Ben and featured red lights shining up towards him.
They opened their set with “Blow Me Away.” The fans were on their feet and creating pits and crowd surfing during their performance.
They continued their set with “Angels Fall.” Guitarist Keith Wallen came to the mic to sing the next song “Sooner Or Later.” They played songs which included, “Lights Out,” “Until The End,” “Dance With The Devil,” and Breathe.
During the song, “Simple Design,” Aaron Bruch was on vocals.
They ended the night with “Evil Angel,” “I Will Not Bow,” and “Diary of Jane.” They put on an amazing show and was amazing to see Live.
The entire night in total was amazing and all the fans had a blast. All the bands put on amazing performances and all got the crowd pumped. All the fans left wanting more.
