Sum 41 is on their final farewell tour, they played to a crowded venue at MGM Music Hall in Boston, MA with the support from openers The Interrupters.
The supporting band The Interrupters had their own fair share of fans in the crowd. Demonstrated by the band asking who has seen them before, or heard of them before, there was a pretty even mix of existing fans and people who hadn’t heard of them before. Their energy was enough to hook you in and get you into their performance. The whole band was taking part in dancing and getting the crowd involved. From playing some covers to their originals, they got the crowd singing and dancing along with them. The Interrupters did exactly what you want from an opening band, they got the party started and ready for the headliner.
Finally it was time for the stars of the night,
Sum 41. From the moment the band was on stage, it was clear that the fans had been excited to see them. There was screaming, dancing along, jumping, moshing and anything else you’d see at a concert all night along. The band’s stage setup was quite impressive with fire, fireworks, smoke, expressive lighting setup and multiple confetti falls. Beyond the elaborate stage setup, their performance had many elements that kept the fans intrigued. Lead singer, Deryck Whibley, often switching between playing the guitar or just singing. All of the other members had their own moments to shine with drum and guitar solos at various points in the set. They played songs from all eras of their music, from their first releases to their latest release. There wasn’t a dull moment in the performance and it was the perfect send off for this band that has been icons in the pop-punk scene for over twenty years.
