I Prevail at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion Did Not Disappoint

On a nice summer night I Prevail takes the stage as fans lined around Leader Bank Pavilion fo a night of heavy music.

First up for the evening was American metalcore band from Dallas, Texas Fit For A King, they were formed in 2007.  The band comprises guitarists Bobby Lynge and Daniel Gailey, vocalist Ryan Kirby, bassist Ryan “Tuck” O’Leary, and drummer Trey Celaya.

They released two independent EPs entitled Fit for a King in 2008 and Awaken the Vesper in 2009. They also released one independent album, Descendants, in 2011.On June 23, 2022, Fit for a King released the single “Reaper” along with an accompanying music video. On August 10, the band unveiled another single called “End (The Other Side)” and its corresponding music video. They announced that their seventh studio album, The Hell We Create, would be released on October 28, 2022, while also revealed the album cover and the track list. On September 8, the third single “Falling Through the Sky” was published along with a music video. On October 13, two weeks before the album release, the band released the fourth and final single “Times Like This” featuring Jonathan Vigil of The Ghost Inside.  On September 27, 2023, the band announced that they would be slowing down album releases, citing a focus on making “intentional albums”. On January 12, 2024, Fit for a King surprise released the brand new single “Keeping Secrets” along with a music video.

They delivered an electrifying performance, blending powerful vocals with intense instrumentation that ignited the crowd, leaving everyone exhilarated and craving more.

Next band to hit the stage was American rap rock band from Los Angeles, California, Hollywood Undead which was formed in 2005. All of the band members use pseudonyms and previously wore their own unique mask, most of which were based on the common hockey goaltender design. The band currently consists of five members: J-Dog, Funny Man, Johnny 3 Tears, Charlie Scene, and Danny. They released their debut album, Swan Songs, on September 2, 2008.

On March 1, 2023, the band released the fifth single “Evil” while also announcing the deluxe edition of the album which is set for release on April 28. On March 29, the band premiered the sixth single “Salvation”. On April 25, the band published the seventh single “House of Mirrors” featuring Jelly Roll along with a music video.

As the lights dimmed and the intro music began to play, a wave of excitement swept through the venue. Hollywood Undead exploded onto the stage with “California Dreaming,” instantly igniting the crowd. The band’s dynamic stage presence was immediately evident, with each member contributing to a seamless blend of rap, rock, and metal.

The setlist was a well-curated mix of old favorites and new tracks from their latest album, “Hotel Kalifornia.” Highlights included: “Undead”: A classic that had the entire crowd chanting along, fists in the air. City of the Dead“: The haunting melody and powerful lyrics resonated deeply with the audience. “Hear Me Now”: This high-energy track had everyone jumping, showcasing the band’s ability to merge catchy hooks with heavy riffs.  “Everywhere I Go,” “Coming In Hot were the last few songs that were played followed by the very last song  “Bullet”: A more introspective moment in the set, providing a poignant contrast to the harder tracks.

The audience’s energy was infectious, feeding off the band’s performance and amplifying it. There was a sense of camaraderie among the fans, united by their love for Hollywood Undead. The mosh pits, crowd surfing, and relentless cheering were a testament to the band’s ability to captivate and energize their audience. For fans old and new, this concert was a night to remember, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to see Hollywood Undead live.

The next band up for the evening was American rock band from Red Lion, Pennsylvania Halestorm, consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist Lzzy Hale, drummer Arejay Hale, guitarist Joe Hottinger, and bassist Josh Smith.  Siblings Lzzy and Arejay founded the band in 1997. The group’s self-titled debut album was released in 2009 through Atlantic Records.

In January 2021, Hale announced that they had begun recording their next studio album, with a “socially distant” studio process. On August 17, 2021, the first song from the new album, “Back from the Dead”, was released.  The album Back from the Dead was released on May 6, 2022. A deluxe edition of the album with seven new songs was released in December 2022.  As part of the band’s 2023 tour schedule, Halestorm led a sold out show at Wembley Arena in the United Kingdom.  In 2024, the band worked on their next album with Dave Cobb as producer.  They released a new song with I Prevail ahead of their joint co-headlining summer tour, “Can U See Me in the Dark?”.

As the night sky darkened, the anticipation reached its peak. The roar of the crowd echoed through the venue as Halestorm took the stage. Opening with “I Miss The Misery” the band immediately established a high-energy atmosphere that didn’t wander throughout their performance.
Halestorm treated their fans to a diverse setlist that spanned their career, blending classic hits with new material from their latest album, “Back from the Dead.”

Lzzy Hale proved once again why she’s one of the most formidable frontwomen in rock. Her vocal performance was flawless, transitioning effortlessly between powerful belts and softer, more introspective moments. The chemistry between the band members was palpable, particularly the sibling dynamic between Lzzy and drummer Arejay Hale, whose energetic drumming and playful antics added an extra layer of excitement. Guitarist Joe Hottinger and bassist Josh Smith provided a solid backbone, with standout solos and tight rhythm sections that showcased their technical prowess. The band’s interaction with the audience was a highlight, with Lzzy frequently addressing the crowd, sharing stories, and expressing heartfelt gratitude.

The audience’s enthusiasm was unwavering, with fans of all ages singing, dancing, and cheering throughout the night. The iconic venue provided an intimate yet expansive setting, allowing everyone to feel connected to the performance. The energy from the crowd was infectious, amplifying the band’s already intense performance. The band’s ability to blend raw power with emotional depth, coupled with their charismatic stage presence and flawless musicianship, made for an unforgettable night. For fans of rock music, Halestorm continues to set the bar high, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating their next tour.

 

Finally, the band that everyone came to see was American rock band formed in Southfield, Michigan, in 2013 I Prevail. 

They released their debut EP Heart vs. Mind (2014) and rose to popularity from releasing a metal cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” as a single, which eventually was certified platinum in the US. The band has since released three studio albums: Lifelines (2016), Trauma (2019), and True Power (2022).

On November 22, 2022, the band released a music video for the song “There’s Fear In Letting Go”.  On March 16, 2023, the band released a music video for the song “Deep End”.

In May 2024, it was announced that vocalist, Brian Burkheiser, would be absent from touring until July. In an Instagram post, Burkheiser stated that he was recovering from surgery for a rare condition known as Eagle syndrome. On June 6, 2024, the band released the song, “Can U See Me In The Dark?” with Halestorm.

The night kicked off with a burst of adrenaline as the band launched into their hit song “There’s Fear In Letting Go,” instantly setting the tone for what was to come. From the first riff to the last scream, the band’s musicianship was impeccable. Front men Brian Burkheiser and Eric Vanlerberghe commanded the stage with a commanding presence, their vocal prowess cutting through the air like a knife. Burkheiser’s clean vocals soared effortlessly over Vanlerberghe’s visceral screams, creating a dynamic contrast that defined their sound.

The setlist was a carefully curated mix of fan favorites and newer material, each song resonating with its own emotional weight. Tracks like “Bad Things” “Blank Space,” and “Breaking Down” unleashed a barrage of sonic fury, while anthems like “Hurricane” and “Visceral” inspired sing-alongs that echoed through the venue.

As the night drew to a close, I Prevail delivered a knockout finale with their breakout hit “Bow Down” and “Gasline” leaving the audience chanting for more. It was a concert that transcended mere entertainment, leaving a lasting impression of catharsis and camaraderie.
