Broadside is currently on tour opening for This Wild Life. They played an intimate venue in Boston, MA called Brighton Music Hall for a small and crowded show.
As soon as the band Broadside hit the stage it was clear that the crowd was looking forward to them, some people probably were there for them maybe instead of the headliner of the show. The sound of cheers filled the small venue as they began to play their first song “One Last Time”. A new song but the oldest single off their latest full release. There was a few times vocalist Oliver turned his microphone to the crowd and it was clear most of the crowd was loudly singing along because you could still clearly hear the words of the song.
This venue, despite the location, is on the smaller side and the room was very full. The venue was a smaller room. With the music’s pop vibe, most of the crowd was showing their appreciation and participation by dancing, jumping, and cheering. There was a couple of crowd surfers during their set as well. It was clear that the crowd was enjoying the band’s music and performance.
They played only eight songs but there was a perfect mix of the band’s discography included in the performance. They even threw in a song and a half as acoustic with two of their more emotional songs “I Love You, I Love You. It’s Disgusting” and “Bleu”. Everyone in the room was paying attention when the vocalist Oliver was speaking in between the two acoustic songs, sharing the meaning behind the title track of their album, “Bleu”. Sharing a vulnerable moment with the crowd by telling them his fiancé was diagnosed with cancer and this song is about the struggle of his loved one having the frightening illness.
This performance had it all. Touching moments, singing and jumping along – new and old songs.
