From Ashes To New Blackout Tour Hits Boston’s Big Night Live

On a busy night in Boston, basketball fans and rock fans were gathered around the TD garden and Big Night Live to get into their respective venues.

First band of the evening was an Indie Rapper from Las Vegas, NV EKOH. He is made up of 3 pieces, a drummer, a singer, and a DJ. He is unlike anything you have ever heard before.  He blends hip hop with alternative rock and everything in between.

From the moment he hit the stage the fans were on their feet screaming. Their first song of their set was “Let Down.”  “During the song “Hole In Your Head,” Ekoh went into the crowd to sing. He played a few more songs which included, “Wayside,” and “Hello loneliness.” During the last song “Freeverse 3,” he had people send shoes up to the stage so that he could sign them. All in all the fans were loving every minute and were eager to hear more.

The next band of the evening was a fresh, burgeoning Hard Rock band based out of Austin, Texas Catch Your Breath. They are comprised of vocalist Josh, guitarist Teddy, bassist Cianan, and drummer Onell.

Josh’s vocals, a captivating blend of vulnerability and strength, soared through the venue, capturing the audience’s attention from the first note. They opened their set with “Deadly.” The fans were on their feet spellbound, dancing to the music. They continued with “Dying on The Inside.” The next song he brought back on stage Ekho to sing “Mirror.”

The audience, a mix of devoted fans and new listeners, swayed in unison, absorbed in the sonic journey unfolding before them. The interplay of shadows and hues intensified the ebb and flow of Catch Your Breath’s performance, enhancing the connection between the music and the audience. They played a few more songs before singing one of their  biggest hits “21 Gun salute.” The fans were ecstatic and were jumping with excitement to be able to hear this live. They sang along to all the words and sometimes were overpowering the band.

Their performance was a testament to their ability to captivate and immerse, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to be present.

Next act up for the evening was American metalcore band from Phoenix, AZ The Word Alive. The band currently consists of vocalist Tyler Smith, guitarists Zack Hansen and Jose Del Rio, and drummer Daniel Nelson.

On March 3, 2023, the band published second single titled “New Reality” along with an accompanying music video. On June 22 2023, the band released the fourth single “Slow Burn” and announced that their seventh studio album, Hard Reset, would be released on August 25, 2023.

From the moment they hit the stage, the band’s intensity was palpable, setting the tone for a night of unapologetic metalcore fervor. Frontman Tyler Smith commanded the stage with a magnetic presence, his vocals seamlessly transitioning from raw screams to melodic refrains. The crowd, a sea of fervent fans, reciprocated the band’s energy with a kinetic enthusiasm that fueled the mosh pits and sent crowd surfers soaring.

Their setlist was a masterful blend of their discography, featuring both relentless tracks and anthemic ballads.  They Opened their set with “Strange Love.” It continued with “Thank You,” “Burning Your World Down,” and “Slow Burn.”

As the final chords of their encore reverberated through Big Night Live, there was a collective sense of exhilaration lingering in the air. They had not only delivered a relentless display of musical prowess but had also forged a powerful connection with their audience.

Finally the last band of the evening was set to hit the stage. American rock band from Lancaster, PA From Ashes To New. The band consists of Danny Case – lead vocals, Matt Brandyberry – rap vocals, keyboards, synthesizers, programming, Lance Dowdle – lead guitar, and Mat Madiro – drums, percussion.

Before the band came to the stage, the lights went down and the screens on the stage and in front of the drums came on. They displayed what it was like on a Sony Playstation video game with From Ashes To New theme song in 8 bit form. The screens portrayed the band in silhouette form as the band came onto the stage.

As the first notes of “Armageddon” reverberated through the venue, the crowd erupted into cheers, fully aware that they were in for a night unlike any other. The band’s dynamic stage presence immediately captivated the audience, with lead vocalist Danny Case commanding the stage with raw intensity.
The setlist was a carefully curated mix of fan favorites and tracks from their latest album, keeping the energy levels consistently high. Songs like “Broken” and “My Fight” showcased the band’s ability to seamlessly transition between melodic verses and powerful, anthemic choruses.

The bands musicianship was on full display, with guitarist Lance Dowdle and drummer Matt Madiro delivering tight and precise performances that anchored the band’s heavy sound. Bassist Mat Madiro held down the low end, providing a solid foundation for the sonic onslaught. The connection between the band and the audience was palpable, with fans singing along to every word and feeding off the infectious energy emanating from the stage.
During moments of intensity, the mosh pit came alive, adding an extra layer of adrenaline to the already charged atmosphere.

As the night reached its climax, they closed the set with a powerful encore, leaving the audience craving more. They added a special treat for the Boston fans playing a Mariah Carey cover of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which is their live debut of this song. They continued with “Crazy,” and “Through It All.” They didn’t just perform; they ignited a musical fire that will linger in the memories of Boston fans for a long time to come.
